Washington's A-list heads to the White House tonight as the Obamas host their first official state dinner. The guest of honor is Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Anita McBride, who served as chief of staff to First Lady Laura Bush, and Lisa Caputo, former press secretary for First Lady Hillary Clinton, spoke to Kiran Chetry on CNN's American Morning Tuesday about the significance of the state dinner.

Kiran:

A state dinner is a lot of style, however not substance. However it is neccesary for showcasing.

If invited, I would skip out early and head downtown.

Cheers,
Fred

Lets all watch and just enjoy our "young" first family show how it is done! Time for the "old goats" to move over as the world grows.

Give me a break!!! Millions out work, losing homes and difficult time to feed families! And here we have a President putting on a $xxx,xxx.00 banquet.

What a waste!

While our troops are getting killed, our country subverted on Obama's watch, terrorist attacks in our military, on American soil; these folks are wining, dining, and trying to look good. This is disgusting! Equally disgusting: Michele Obama need to seriously "cover her upper torso". Showing so much arms, breast, and back is "demeaning" to the country as a whole. She is a female Levi Johnston. She should have just gone topless! Too, somebody should tell that empty-headed woman that a First Lady's patriotic duty is to promote America. Michele, you're no Jackie-O! Stop it! Their priorities are screwed, and I can hardly wait until 2012 to "eject them from our White House". wolfgangpitbullingtonIII!

While millions of Americans are unemployed, Obama holds a dinner party to the Indian government. India is the leading cause of Americans being unemployed – we are being displace and by indians on H1-b and L1 visas. Also our jobs are being sent and outsourced to India. Thank you Mr Obama for slapping hard working Americans.

Wingnuts of the week

What's a Wingnut? Someone on the far-right wing or far-left wing of American politics. In a polarized two-party system, they have disproportionate influence and too often define the terms of debate. With "Wingnuts of the Week," commentator John Avlon tries to take that power back.
